[VIDEO] Where In the Hawaii is Edward Sugimoto? - May 30, 2012

May 30th, 2012
By

I think last week's video was a bit too difficult because, although we had a handful of Facebook shares via the blog, the comments/guesses were unusually low.

I had another food video queued up and ready to go for this week, but to avoid another slow comment week (hopefully), we'll try something a lil' different (yet again). If this doesn't work, we may just have to go back to good ol' fashioned photos again. LOL!

The quiz for the video is still the same (guessing Where In Hawaii this is), but you also get to enjoy a bit of "entertainment" while you're at it. I use the term "entertainment" loosely because it's yet to be determined if the video is actually entertaining to you. Ahahaha! LMK what you think (good or bad) in the comment area below k?

Weekly VH07V T-Shirt Update!

New VH07V Photo Shoot at Rainbow Drive-In!

Once again, Marc Orbito of Hungry eYe Photo continues to impress. Following up our last VH07V photo shoot at Kaka`ako Kool, I hired Marc to help shoot our next scene at the iconic Rainbow Drive-In. With the help of fellow blogger and friend Catherine Toth, I was able to get permission from owner Jimmy Gusukuma (Toth's friend) to shoot some scenes there for VH07V. Wow, much mahalos Cat and Mr. Gusukuma! What an honor!

Below is a shot from Marc's collection from that night! Unreal yeah? Can't wait to see how the rest of the day's shots turned out. To hire Marc for your photographic needs, be sure to contact him via his Facebook page here: Hungry eYe Photo!

VH07V Spotted!

This week's "Spotted" shot for VH07V is of friend and supporter Jody Kamisato. He owns and operates the very popular ukulele school called Ukulele Hale. Jody is also a member of the Na Hoku Hanohano nominated band Heart & Soul, mentors keiki through his Ukes on the Loose program, and has a regular gig in Aulani's Starlit Hui show every Monday and Thursday.

And finally... I'm officially a Guinness World Records™ Record Holder!

Well, I can't take all the credit, but it's pretty exciting nonetheless. ;)

We finally received notification back from the Guinness World Records™ folks that our record setting attempt for the "Largest SPAM Musubi" at last year's Rice Fest was made official. Me, along with the other 20 or so volunteers/participants in the building of the musubi got our names in the record books. Cool right? :)

Never satisfied, we'll be attempting to break our own record for the "Largest SPAM Musubi" at this year's Rice Fest in September. More info to come when I get it...

    @ed - you forgot to mention that Jody is UCHINANCHU (or as we say from Haebaru say "Haebarununchu") and a proud Big Brother (Big Brothers Big Sisters). He was 2011 Big of the Year and a KAISER alum. Ok, tata for now!

    ... hey Ed ... what??? ... unsually low comments??? ... no can be??? ... aren't you the most popular blogger in Hawaii??? ... at least you're the most popular blogger named Ed Sugimoto ... haha!!! ...

    ... would've helped if you were a girl ... but since you're not ... next best thing ... have guest girl bloggers ... btw, when are you doing guests again??? ...

    ... I think one problem with your video WIHIES is that many can't access youtube from work ... no can see the vid, no can post ... can you embed the video from some other source ... like the news websites ... or espn ...

    ... anyway ... I'll help on your post count ... today ...

    ... Have a Good One Everyone!!! ...

  13. rayboyjr:

    * When do you use your shaka and why?

    ... like Paco said ... when driving ... flash da shaka to say tanks eh brah for letting me cut ...

  14. rayboyjr:

    * When do you use your shaka and why?

    ... and when you're out anywhere and in the distance you see someone you know ... flash da shaka ... kinda seems like shaka's have to be done from a distance ... well, at least 15 to 20 feet away ... or something like that ... would feel extremely strange flashing it to someone standing next to you or close up ... unless you're doing it as an expression of happiness or excitement ...

  15. rayboyjr:

    * When do you use your shaka and why?

    ... and of course, you do the shaka if you're sign waving for your local political candidates ... but funny thing is that even if you shaka, some buggahs in da cars still make stink faces ... wasn't former mayor Fasi's logo one big shaka sign??? ...

  16. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da good ... was entertaining enough to hold my attention ... mostly because I got all the references for the jokes ...

  17. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da good ... your friend is a good speaker ... able to follow his explanations ...

  18. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da good ... excellent location ... you're in Hawaii ... gotta be on da beach ... good job ... who thought of that??? ...

  19. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... now da bad ... at least in my opinion ... where's the girls ... sorry, but two guys on video is not something I'm dying to see ...

  20. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da bad ... try not to laugh at yourselves ... if you guys could've gotten through the whole thing without laughing it would have been excellent ...

  21. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da bad ... use jokes that are universal ... for girls guys children adults ... well at least for your target audience ... I think only guys get the jokes about the bars ... and yes, of course I got it ...

  22. rayboyjr:

    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da bad ... maybe you should dress for the parts too ... you're friend should be maybe in tank top with puka shell necklace ... and you should have bleached orange hair with camera on neck and ugly aloha shirt ...

  23. Carokun:

    I mainly use the shaka in photos :) \m/

  24. Coconut Willy:

    Ed, I think you too local to be FOB

    * 1.Paco:
    Thats in Waikiki on the beach. I think it is called Queen's beach?

    Close, but I dunno if it's still considered Queen's beach or San Souci. Mebbe. I'll give you points either way.

    * 2.Paco:
    I mostly shaka on the road to thank someone or as a greeting when driving by someone I know.

    I like to see how good (or bad) some people are at using it on the road. :)

    * 3.Paco:
    Whoa! Nice certificate for the world record! That is awesome!

    Hehe, thanks Pacs. I can't take all the credit. Was definitely a team effort though...

    * 4.Paco:
    Cool pics at Rainbows. You should get Cat Toth to model for you or have her interview you on her blog.

    Haha. Funny you mention that. I actually asked Cat if she would be interested in modeling for VH07V, but she was too shame.

    * 5.carokun:
    Jody should have a matching VH07V hat

    He does now! :) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150917064159590&set=a.10150240876014590.339649.680514589&type=1

    * 6.carokun:

    Any time cuz. Why, you like volunteer? :)

    * 14.rayboyjr:
    * When do you use your shaka and why?

    ... and when you're out anywhere and in the distance you see someone you know ... flash da shaka ...

    Oh yeah. I probably use it the most in this situation too!

    * 15.rayboyjr:
    * When do you use your shaka and why?

    ... and of course, you do the shaka if you're sign waving for your local political candidates ... but funny thing is that even if you shaka, some buggahs in da cars still make stink faces ... wasn't former mayor Fasi's logo one big shaka sign??? ...

    Haha, speaking of which, isn't that craziness gonna start up again?

    * 19.rayboyjr:
    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... try not to laugh at yourselves ... if you guys could've gotten through the whole thing without laughing it would have been excellent ...

    This is definitely good feedback. We ab-libbed the whole thing so sometimes, yeah, it has that unprofessional feel I guess. Haha!

    * 22.rayboyjr:
    * Constructive feedback (good or bad) about the video:

    ... ok ... da bad ... maybe you should dress for the parts too ... you're friend should be maybe in tank top with puka shell necklace ... and you should have bleached orange hair with camera on neck and ugly aloha shirt ...

    Yeah, totally agree. I guess we wuz just trying things out. Maybe if it picks up more, we'll put more production value (and effort) into it. Good feedback beej! Much love!

    * 23.Carokun:
    I mainly use the shaka in photos \m/
