Christmas Lights in Kapolei

So da oddah week, wifey and I went to a first birthday party at the Kapolei Rec Center (Happy Birthday Tori!)... On the way home, we noticed some bright lights shining up a storm across the street. Curious, we went to go check um out, and...
HOOOOOOOOOO! (HO HO!)
Good thing we did! Buggah was NUTS!
Apparently this (normally) unassuming cul-de-sac on Hanapaa Street gets into the holiday spirit like no other, every single year. And it's not just one house... several of the houses go all out to provide some nice "Honolulu City Lights" action, only, it's in Kapolei. Below are some shots from that night to help get you in the mood for Christmas this week...

I spoke with the owner of one of the houses and she said that they've been doing it for many years... Since their kids were small kid time, and they are all young adults now. With no tip jar in sight, they leave benches and hot chocolate out for anyone and everyone to enjoy... for free! When I asked how much their electric bill was for the month, she said, "About $1,100, but it's ok, we prepare for this all year..."

Yeah, it's really bright and terrific up there . . . oddly enough, I only see the lightshow in pictures and I've never actually driven 'round there a lot. I think I hate on 2nd city, noooo, heh, OK, OK, I'll take a drive up there . . . soon.
Thank you for sharing these pics ed. I'm especially surprised this year at the Christmas spirit efforts. Hope it continues know that the economy is, supposedly, getting back together again.

) and I SAW that lower level parking lot pond. Nutty, near unbelievable, like you almost woulda' fell in it (I saw the pond from B&N). Good thing I got to the mall AFTER the apparent power outage.

well across our house we battle to put the most annoying BRIGHT LIGHTS.....I almost go crazy looking across our neightbor....! so next year I get me TRAIN HEAD LIGHT glaring towards them...lol..omg! yes of all the light they stick ugly crap..!

A Heineken tree! I wonder if anyone does a dance next to it? *thinking of the commercial where the guys are dancing in the walk-in refrig* BTW, missed that commercial; liked it a lot better than the one they have now with the guy/gal at the wedding.
I wonder how long it took them to collect all those bottles? I wonder how many are there?

... hey Ed ... luv the Christmas spirit!!! ... those homes are great ... I wish I could do that kind of thing someday ... gotta get a house first *sigh* ... but props to all those who brighten up the neighborhoods this time of year ...

oh wow expensive $1,100 for lights...I guess if I live in tropical place I invest in solar ligths..buy slowly so I save money...

inside our house I combine battery operated and solar ligths for Christmas decor... then on sunny day I put the solar decor on my bed so it get sun voila cheap...

I am still plotting how to buy the most annoying bright light..just my luck next year they will change the product..of all the color of light the people across has to put supper bright...so bright I almost go crazy... they are testing my patience!
so picture me screaming at my husband hurry up go fetch me the freaking bright light this is war! ...
or I be like guy full of beer bottles then my mom will haul me for drunken mom ...she will say HOW DID she drink all that beer..imagine she call the AA on me!!

hey this war lights with the people across is crazy funny ... right now I only have the blurry blue on....NEXT I am still plotting .....! gosh imagine with the beer my mom would really put me away.....! I am not putting any color lights...JUST BLUE..oh crap when the blue light is on my stupid husband finally agreed it is dark gloomy lol...so much for that now he agree..he used to say blue was great NOW THE STUPID AGREE...well next year COKE CANS cover up my window so I don't have to look across..lol....!
