Whoa, that's a lot of lights. Must be paying HECo a pretty penny!

Oh, where's my manners ... good morning.
Last night's H5O episode was a good one! That was really the Pagoda hotel, yeah?
December 7th, 2010 at 7:48 am
I haven't seen the first episode of Top Chef yet. I'm hoping they'll show a rerun before the new show this week! They usually do, right?
December 7th, 2010 at 8:19 am
In reply to NeedaHobby, yes, that was the Pagoda. We past that way about a month ago and saw all the huge equipment trucks and personnel standing around.
As for H50 last night, all I can say is that McGarrett gets dreamier every week. Hey, we old peeps can fantasize too, right?

CANNOT believe Dan-o called that L.A. private investigator "Magnum" in jest. I mean, c'mon, Hawaii 5-0, Magnum P.I. was the ultimate in island crimefighting coolness methinks. THEY had it right for crimefighting . . . a fellow with a helicopter so's they could chase leads island to island.
This is seriously developing into a good show. The first few eps are cheesy compared to these recent installments (sans the aforementioned Dan-o/Magnum comment). This show, Boardwalk Empire, and The Walking Dead all kinda' started out slow (less for the latter; The Walking Dead is like, something else; cannot walk [pardon the pun] away from watching each scene). MC of chefs Mark Dacascos Wo Fat character's episodes should be the best; can't wait to see what his gang will be like. Chinn Ho gets a bomb strapped to his neck next episode; be there, kablooey!

My guess is Kahalu.
I like the ending of last nights Hawaii 5-0 and I'll leave it at that till Ed watches the episode. I saw Kelly Hu play a killer that has eluded the director on NCIS for 20 years. She made a good killer. I was hoping that she would be the Wo Fat of the new 5-0.
December 7th, 2010 at 10:44 am
yeah, pretty sure they usually air the previous week's episode before the new one on the same day. I think it's gonna be a good season since it mostly consists of past runner-ups/top 4 finalists. Rooting for Jen...she's pretty hardcore.
never saw last night's HI 5-0 yet since I was a little under the weather and pretty much knocked out on meds.

last night's hawaii five-o episode was very reminiscent of LOST!!! SAME jungle scene, guys w/weapons... pigs... and then some random crying woman running out of the long weeds "LOST" not knowing what is going on. hmm... and later the woman is in the hospital and she looks like a wanna be "kate austin" aka evangeline lilly... *sigh* THEN, while chasing this jilted-left-at-the-alter serial killer, they end up in the "LOST" jungle again at a "shed" that i swear was used in LOST as the back entrance to the hatch that Desmond hung out in!!! at least they're recycling i guess...
oh and on the news last night they talked about a "cultural consultant" for hawaii five-o for the script and scenes. i wonder how much those guys make? i could be a cultural consultant for somethings i think. like can we make "jin" ho kelly STOP speaking in hawaiian? and then someone tell mcgarrett that grace park's name is kOnO not kAnO... i swear he slips up sometimes [but he hot's none the less]. i think any local person can be a cultural consultant for their area and it doesn't have to be just one guy. i think an hpd consultant is important b/c i think cops here are def not like [or as cool, lol] as law and order:svu... ha ha ha.
i loved how they're chasing the bad guy at what seemed like the ko'olina area then suddenly are driving in nu'uanu's back roads around the pali going up. and the best was seeing them AT the pali look out and dano and mcgarrett come driving up the old pali road, LOL... i can't believe they filmed that close to the edge. gives me the heebie jibbies to see the view on TV like that.
BUT the most important thing about last night's episode was that they finally revisted what started the whole "five-o" thing in episode ONE. it was important that the get back into finding out who killed mcgarrett's dad and for what or why? FINALLY... geez i thought they forgot about this plot line and five-o just goes around saving the day weekly... so apparently the show is implying the mcgarrett's dad was killed for his snooping around his wife, mcgarrett's mom's, death - which was initially thought of as an accident by a drunk driver. but really... it was a homicide case. dun dun daaaaaa! i'm looking forward to see this story line conclude THIS season.

I liked 5-0 last night too. It was the first episode I watched all the way through on the original broadcast night.
I just wish that they would correct the pronunciation of the Hawaiian words. You know, McGarret was supposed to have grown up in Hawaii, yet he can not pronounce Kailua. Kalua is the pig, not the location.
Then, after they went surfing they bust out the beer??? Wassup wit dat? No can drink at the beaches here. At least not in the open like they did.
December 7th, 2010 at 12:16 pm
So they hire a cultural consultant. Did he come aboard after "flipflops" and speaking "bird"? Or his job just the pronunciation of location names? If that is his only job, he needs to step it up some.
December 7th, 2010 at 12:19 pm
I like the fact that 5-0 is filmed at different locations. Kinda like LOST where you try to guess where the location is for real. It is cool to see the film crews all over the place.
They were outside my work place one morning. Took them all of 2 hours to set up, film over and over, then break down.

... on to Hawaii Five-O ...
... overall, I thought last nights episode was one of the best so far ... in fact, the first 30 minutes were excellent ... so much so, that it was on par with the best of the other crime/detective dramas ... it had mystery, intrigue, unpredictabity ... I was literally reasoning out the possible scenarios for what happened ... and I couldn't figure it out ...
... but the last 30 minutes ... reverted back to the standard H50 ... shoot ... with all the impressive high-tech detective work they do to solve the crimes ... you'd think they could solve all of Hawaii's crime ... and not just the "special" ones ...
December 7th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
... and nice job by the writers ... in getting McGarrett shirtless at the beginning of the show ... doin' a little diving/spear fishing ... good for all you ladies out there, I guess ... but where was Kono??? ... hrmmmfff ...
... I guess they're running out of ideas ... on how to justify why McGarrett has to take of his shirt during the show ... brilliant!!! ...
... maybe for a future episode ... they should start the show off with Kono trying to teach McGarrett how to surf ... yeah, baybee!!! ... get the hottie and the hunk (so I'm told) undressed at the same time!!! ...
December 7th, 2010 at 3:14 pm
... btw, love the sweeping shots of the island landscape ...
... who wouldn't want to visit here ... after watching H50 and the breathtaking aerial views of the island ...
... they just need to do a little creative editing sometimes ... get rid of the tents and other not so attractive stuff ...
December 7th, 2010 at 3:40 pm
what up from san fran peoples! just thought i'd pop in and say hi. hope everyone's tuesday is going good so far!
December 7th, 2010 at 3:42 pm
@tweetpeep22 ... I've kinda wondered the same thing ... about McGarrett investigating his Dad's death ... like you said, that's the reason he's here ...
... what would be relevant ... would be the show devoting at least few scenes each episode to McGarrett doing something related to his Dad ... ... searching around his Dad's house ... talking to others about his Dad ... anything ... visiting the cemetary ...
... it would be a cool way to end the show ... like last nights show ... they could have ended every episode in the same way ...

i know where that is - Kapolei. They also have the Heineken tree!
December 8th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
@Kage - I'm with you. Cultural consultant needs to be sensitive to the modern day local culture too, not just the native Hawaiian culture. You right, you figgah Blane Kia coulda got McGarret to pronounce Kailua correctly. That's not a toughie like Kaumualii or Aiea ...
