Survey Thursday: Home Remedies

September 9th, 2010
By

Happy 9/9 errryone! Gonna be a quick one today cause your boy is feeling a little under the weather, but wanted to throw a quick Survey Thursday out there to see if you can help me kick this cold.

Q) What is your favorite home remedy to fight a cold?

Yeah, this one is a little self-serving, cause I like heal myself like stat, but won't you help a brutha out? Puhleeease? I think I overworked myself with all this Rice Fest stress/planning. *sigh*

My momma's ojiya (rice gruel) is da bomb. Drinking Sprite is also nom nom. What other suggestions/remedies do you guys have? Hellllp! :P

  2. Rosette:

I think positive then the cold goes away...this is the time I clean it relaxes me....fresh air in between..I force myself to get ready I don't sit around..I grab my book etc etc or I plan the food for the week to get my mind off my sickness..... when I get sick it doesn't show I keep moving.

  3. NeedaHobby:

Hope you feel better soon! How about some homemade chicken soup? Or, saimin?

  4. Ed Oshiro:

My remedy is 2000mg. of vitamin c every few hours with honey that I purchase from the KCC Farmers' Market. Always works for me.

  5. jojo ®:

drink a lot of water, gargle with salt water, pho, orange juice

  6. Chicken Grease:

Ahhhh, you had to get sick 'fore ricefest (which I'm getting tired of hearing already, nooooooo, kidding, I like see what get already).

    Get better, Ed:

    • Green tea (preferably chilled or iced so that your boty can absorb the fluid faster)

    • Zinc tablets, chewables, etc. These can be found at Vitamin stores, etc. Might be a bit late as this is what I take during the holiday season as fellow islanders seem to insist on coughing right on and upon you at this time of the year. Seems to work real well . . . I don't get sick when I do this. But, zinc is zinc, so, should do some good even if you are already sick.

    • Nyquil. Seems to heal you overnight.

  7. snow:

i still like airborne... even though people say it doesn't work! does for me! lol. drink lots of liquids to thin out da hanabata. ;) if you have chest congestion, you need might need an expectorant... mucinex is good. sometimes i use mucinex d, which also has a decongestant.

  8. M:

    Howzit Ed,

    Rest and sleep....

  9. soogs:

if you get running/stuck nose, use afrin nasal spray. dont use it for more than 3 days, though.

  10. Kage:

I do the ginger tea thing.

    Chop fresh ginger.
Chop and add the green onion white parts.
    Boil and sip.

It is all too taste. You like more or less, up to you.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Usually, this is me too Rosey (I NEVER get sick), but this one hit me like a ton of bricks. I actually had to sleep for a day and a half. I think it was stress more than anything. Good thing I got better fast though. :)
