Flashback Friday: Holiday Memories
By World Wide Ed
A-ight peeps, as the end of December quickly approaches, I, like the rest of y'all, will be taking a little break for the holidays. Let's face it... many of you are probably not reading during this time anyway.
But before that, I wanted to take the time to thank all of you wonderful readers for supporting WWE these last few years (can you believe April 28, 2010 makes 2 years!?). It's been fun and it seems like we've been through a lot together, even though many of us have never met IRL. Gotta love the power of the Internet eh?
I've had the pleasure of playing fantasy football with some of you, and have even met a few others in person. Speaking of which, much love to bruddahs hemajang and MakiSushi for their gifts of T-shirts, and bruddah bB for his furikake and stone cookie omiyage (brok' da mout' literally!) from the B.I.! Hopefully, I was able to repay the favor to some of you with my movie pass and UH basketball ticket giveaways, local reviews/articles/interviews, and overall silliness of this blog. Hope it helped to play at least a small role in your otherwise busy lives.
Your Fave Holiday Memories?
K, let's do a quick Flashback Friday kine moment hurr:
* Since the holidays are a special time we share with our loved ones, let's use this moment to share with each other, our favorite holiday memory/mammaries. 8). Use the comment box below to share with da WWE `ohana. Yes, sorry, that was a lot of "share"s.
For me, I think the most recent memory was making mochi at grandma's house last year. As Japanee as I am, that was the first time I ever did that. Fun fun!

The True Meaning of the Holidays
P.S. I won't completely disappear from your life though! Shucks huh?
I've been getting a few Christmas/holiday related forwards lately, so I may be posting those from time to time, to pass your time (to time).
Don't want ya to forget about WWE after all!
Have a safe and happy holiday season gang! See y'all next year! *wave*

Yeah, we also make mochi every year. We usually make it the Sunday before New Years, hmmm we better start planning it. Thanks for the reminder, maybe I'll call my sisters today. We don't pound mochi but uncle had bought this mochi grinding machine in the 50's that we use every year. You know, maybe 20 years ago, I decided to try peanut butter in mochi, tasted pretty good and thought I was the first to try it, but apparently everyone does it and the combination is a natural.

M,
Hawaii is the "Main" land. the rest of the US is on the "continent" or the "big big island".
I remember how decorated the old Ala Moana used to get. the huge santa statue that they put up especially stands out in my mind.

Growing up, I enjoyed being allowed to pick out one gift to open on Christmas Eve. Actually, I still do that.
@matt - the rest of the US is also referred to as "America" and Hawaii "the islands".

@matt, companies and shops think we are a foreign country when it comes to shipping, "except for Alaska and Hawaii".

Back when I did the hula halau thing, we used to perform Christmas Eve on the lanai at the Moana. I used to think it was such a hassle to drive into waiks and do all the prep for that show .... Now, I look back and I miss it. The hassle was worth it.

New Year's 2000, my friend and I watched the sunrise at Sandy Beach, and turns out planny other folks had the same idea. We ended up cruising through Kailua, taking a lazy drive to the North Shore.

Best memories were my kids' first Christmases. No words can describe.

Bestest memories is of the spread my Mom used to make for the holidays. How she could make it all was amazing. I could not even come close to her talents.
Her maki sushi was the best.

I never had any kind of tradition growing up so I pick the ginger bread house and listening to Christmas music..then watching all sorts of Christmas music.

I make sure daddy is part of things we do ..they enjoy building ginger bread house...I put the music and they build together.
