I'm was a fan of Chris Brown's music ... BUT ... I don't really care for Chris Brown the person.

I don't have anything good to say about him or the situation, but I will say this ... I'm not really a supporter of second chances, but I do believe in compassion and forgiveness for anyone showing true repentance.

His message should only be to Rihanna and God ... but he seems to be making this pitch so he can continue with his career. This whole situation was just so sad!

  2. Coconut Willy:

Not really into Pop Culture but this guy is lame! Rihanna is better off without him.

  3. YN:

if i were rihanna... this guy would've been out of show biz the 2nd day!!!

  4. kuya.d:

I agree with rbj, the apology should be between him and Rihanna. Why make a show of it? Poor taste, poor timing, poor thing. Too bad for him, he was making strides in showbiz. He could still do well, but I'll admit that my view of him is *bleh*, now.

  5. Matt:

    * Well scripted by him or his PR people?

    * Once a beater, always a beater?
    yeah...pretty much

    * Is growing up in an abusive home an excuse?
monkey see monkey do? only an excuse if you're admitting to being a monkey.

    * Too little, too late?

    * How would you have handled this if you were Chris?
wouldn't have hit her in the first place

    * What would you do if you were Rihanna?

    * What would you do if you were Rihanna's parent?
there would be no more chris brown

    * What would you do if you were Rihanna's next boyfriend?
anything I did would be better, no?

    * Interested in Chris Brown's career going forward?
    not really

Chris Brown? Musically, I know very little of him. Sounds like he making attempt to go forward with his career and exit this very revealing part of his persona with as little damage as possible. His only and best strategy is to sincerely (good acting) apologize. My son had told me to watch his music video, "Forever," about a year ago because his classmate, Megan Abrigo of "Deal or No Deal" is featured. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2IExa2A198

  7. frankie:

He's just apologizing because he wants people to buy his records again. If he was a real man, he wouldn't have hit Rihanna in the first place. If he was sort of a real man, he would've apologized immediately, instead of waiting for his blood-sucking lawyers to tell him when he could.

  8. NeedaHobby:

I believe in forgiveness and second chances, but like rayboyjr and kuya mentioned, the apology should be between him and Rihanna. The public video seems to be a PR thing and it's so late. The timing of the whole thing does not make it seem genuine. I don't think growing up in an abusive home should be an excuse. I think seeing a therapist may help in in dealing with his (anger management and other) issues.

Good for Rihanna for having the strength to get of that relationship!

  9. Scott:

He's just fitting the thug profile. Nothing about this story is new to this culture or demographic. Yeah, truth hurts, so sue me.

  10. kako mochi:

"too little, too late" is what i think.

  11. EMM386:

    * Do you believe him? Nope.
    * Do you care? I care in that he's still free to beat the next girl.
    * Well scripted by him or his PR people? Isn't that what you pay them for?
    * Once a beater, always a beater? I don't necessarily think so, but you do need to seek out help.
    * Is growing up in an abusive home an excuse? Nope.
    * Too little, too late? Yep.
    * How would you have handled this if you were Chris? Don't wait til everything is done and apologize months later. Own up when you did it, and be a man.
    * What would you do if you were Rihanna? I would have nothing more to do with him.
    * What would you do if you were Rihanna's parent? I really cannot imagine what they are feeling right now, because I don't have kids myself.
    * What would you do if you were Rihanna's next boyfriend? Be as supportive as possible because she's bound to have some scars herself.
    * Interested in Chris Brown's career going forward? Wasn't before, won't be from now either.
