Fave Five Friday: Reality Show Couples

June 26th, 2009
By

So it was recently reported that Jon and Kate Gosselin have filed for divorce. Gee, who saw that one coming?

Along those lines, we'll go with that theme for this week's Fave Five blog: Fave Five Reality Show Couples. I needs ta be honest though. I'm more excited to fill out the least fave list. Let's see what we come up with shall we?

Fave Five Reality Show Couples:

  1. Flavor Flav + Anyone- you gotsta love his passion and honesty for trying to find true love on "Flavor of Love." And, although he's admirably decided to stay with his baby's mama following the 3rd and last season, a part of me still wants him to keep going. Can't get enough of that guy man! LOL!
  2. Travis Barker + Shanna Moakler - although they've had a lot of drama following them in the news, I was a fan of their show "Meet the Barkers" back in the day.
  3. Nick Lachey + Jessica Simpson - how can you not like both of them? They seemed to be nice peoples, at least individually... Maybe their life timing was just not right? I secretly wouldn't mind seeing them get back together and film another season of "Newlyweds". 8)
  4. New York + Tailor Made - I don't really like Tailor Made, but he and New York (Tiffany Pollard) were like the most unlikely of couples, so "I Love New York" was just fun to watch. Like a train wreck I couldn't look away from. :P
  5. Jeff Conaway + Vikki Lizzi - one word: dysfunctional. Not sure why I wasted hours of my life watching "Celebrity Rehab" but they were also fun/ridiculous to watch.

Bottom Five Reality Show Couples:

  1. Spencer Pratt + Heidi Montag - these two are number 1 on the hated list and won't ever get overtaken. Why does anyone even care what they're up to? I have no clue. Gotta hand it to Spencer for his decent marketing skills though.
  2. Jon Gosselin + Kate Gosselin - again... who cares!?
  3. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline - ditto
  4. Christopher Knight + Adrianne Curry - again...
  5. Audrina and Justin-Bobby - need I say more?

If making your list proves too challenging, feel free to just dish/vent about any of the above (or others you love/despise).

  1. Coconut Willy:

Uh, none! Don't watch dem shows and don't really care. The wife watches Jon & Kate split the 8. I hate that show. They are so stupid.

I do remember that one show about 3 years ago that was filmed on the BI. The girl finally picks the guy, then cannot commit because of her ex boyfriend.....Fabio. What the.....

My time is too precious to waste on these mind numbing shows.

Have a great vacation Ed. Watch out for the Grizzlies!

  2. Kage:

I don't watch these shows either.

Have a great Aloha Friday everyone.

    Enjoy the vacation Ed.

  3. Ynaku:

I don't watch those reality shows.

Have a great vacation. Looking forward to you guest bloggers. Hey maybe we hit over 1000 posts while your gone.

  4. hemajang:

Have a good one, Mr. Ed, fishing I assume. Sorry, don't watch much reality tv, will catch parts of ones that wife watch like Jon & Kate +8. I thought the Osbournes was interesting. Ozzy is from my generation and I can relate to his mumbling and shuffling. I also recall a series about these guys competing to be in a made for tv boy band and had Kimo Kaohano's son as one of the competitors.

  5. kuya.d:

Victor and Tammy - Amazing Race: it was fun to see older brother and his ego get tamed in the one episode where he followed the wrong markers.

Simon and Paula - AI: poor contestants get outshined by some of the odd antics of these two.

Heidi and Spencer - The Hills: the epitome of a dysfunctional relationship.

Guy Fieri and Food - Triple D's: I'm jealous!

Regis and Kelly - Live!: I don't get this combo...such opposites. And the longer Kelly's been on the show, the more she resmbles Kathy Lee Gifford, whom she replaced...spooky!

  6. M:

    Good Morning Ed!

    Don't watch them shows either.

    Have a great vacation!

  7. MakiSushi:

I only watch ESPN, sportscenter, over and over again.

Hope you have a great Alaskan vacation Ed! I like go too, I needavacation.

  8. kuya.d:

I'm looking forward to all the guest blogs coming up! This should be fun...plus, we can talk shtink about Ed! Nah-nah! (you can call me jerk again!).

  9. Kristen:

Hmmmm I don't watch many couple reality shows, but I am addicted to the Bachelor/Bachelorette series!
And I do watch the Neely's on the Food Network- does that count? :) To be honest, I think they're irritating together, but it does look like they make pretty good food!

  10. kuya.d:

Ed, hope you can outrun those glaciers! And have a safe trip bruddah!

    VHO7V Friday erryone!

  11. che:

I don't have a favorite couple but I like Gene Simmons Family Jewels. The girls next door was interesting too.

  12. NeedaHobby:

Hmm, I don't watch those reality shows. What I do like is Idol, Top Chef, Food Network, and home improvement type shows on DIY, HGTV, TLC, etc.

Not a "couple", but I do like Stacey and Clinton on TLC's "What Not to Wear". They are pretty funny.

@kuya - my niece and nephews turned me onto The Amazing Race. It was pretty neat that the finale was on Maui. Did you see it? When the taxi driver got lost, sadly, the dispatcher did not convey the aloha spirit very well. Something like, "It's not my job fo help them!"

@tita - have you been watching "Top Chef Masters"?

  13. NeedaHobby:

@Ed - have a very nice vacation in Alaska! I'm so jealous. I want to go there one of these days.

Don't forget to come back home now ;) What would we all do without your blog?

Have a nice VHO7V Friday and weekend everyone!

  14. EMM386:

NOPE. No reality couples for me. Discovery Channel is my reality TV.

  15. unca juncz:

so to me this is consistent with the topic of the day which is the gap between the bigger-than-life image that fame creates and the reality of the life that famous people face just like everybody else..

add the frailty of human relationships to that mix, along with the expectations out on famous people by themselves and others, a bit of drugs, alcohol, and wacky behavior and you have a formula that leads fairly straight to disaster..

it's like watching a car accident that you know is coming unfold in front of you in slow motion.. it can be hypnotic for a minute, but you already know where it's going.. is there any couple in the limelight that doesn't come to look like a caricature of themselves..

hmmmm... uhhhhhh..... no, i don't think so..

  16. Rosette:

yes I watch a few shows of Jon and Kate ...and I watch Peter and Kate Price...well....Good luck to them...they made cash now what next.

  17. tita leerz:

@Hobbz: yeah, whenever I can catch it...without some little kid trying to change the channel on me! I'm waiting for Chef Roy to go on. Did they show it already! I saw the Girl Scout/Dorm food one. ....wow, all I could make in the dorms was pop tarts and saimin!

Bruddah Ed, I really want to say that I don't watch reality TV because it would just kill my tita aura. But, I succumb to the evil that it is.

    1. Family Jewels. Gene Simmons is a hoot! All these other couples got divorced but not these two...cuz they not even married.
    2. Jon and Kate. But my interest in the show fizzled around Christmas time. One can only take so much bickering before you want to smash your TV against the wall. I really loved that they came to Hawaii. But really saddened that they got a divorce. I feel sick for their kids. I'm more sad about this than MJ dying yesterday.
    3. Hogan Knows Best. What can I say? I'm a Hulkamaniac. I am a real American! :p ....then they started bickering too and then I got bored. Back to watching John Cena on WWE.
    4. Nick and Jessica. I always wanted to know what ignorant thing she'd say or do next. Poor Nick. Newlyweds should not do reality shows. They should work on their marriage. Nick had to deal with the public scrutiny that his wife was an airhead, as sweet as she was. ...chicken of the sea.
    5. 18 children and counting. Michelle and Him Bob Duggar. Now there, is a fascination to explore. How the heck do they keep it together?! I know...

  18. tita leerz:

    Jim Bob!!! typo

  19. theDman:

Hate those shows. Don't watch at all.

    Unless they got babes.

  20. J.P.:

only reality show i watch is Amazing Race.....there's always at least one cute girl in it and always one couple that's constantly bickering at one another.

plus, it's fun to see to them butcher other languages trying to figure out where to go..

  21. Rosette:

I was just curious what reality t.v. show...they make cash parading kids around! I watch movies more...ROLE MODLE LAST NIGHT WAS FUNNY!

  22. Rosette:

REality that is not reality t.v. in reality you pick your nose and they don't show that in relaity t.v. ..they show kids sitting eating at the table nicely... ! omg..In reality you get divorce you throw the dishes and rip pictures you cut the furniture in half etc etc....and in reality during supper you hear me scream shut up and don't complain just eat your supper..do I look like a chef to you and no yapping !

  23. Rosette:

@ theDman: HERE IS PETER AND KATE FOR YOU..... if you want "BABES"

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article2424092.ece

  24. Rosette:

Anyway I have better things to do now that my kids are older. I am not going to watch babies running around having fits and the guy with his 18 kids he can have it and he can keep counting to fitfy kids...I am relaxing.

  25. Rosette:

Now that my kids are older many things to amuse me...... LIKE SITTING AT the restuarant with just me and my husband no more kids whinning at my ass all day long ....AH RELAX AT LAST..I am going to waste my time following other couple fighting aorudn I had my day of that..that is why I train my hsubnad to do my way....18 years of traiining...peace at last!

  26. Rosette:

I think couples it takes time to really get to know each other..kids can add stress etc etc..then maturity and personality..thank GOD I PASS ThAT PHASE OF INSANITY!

  27. snow:

my favorite couple would have been jon and kate. but, you could tell long before they became tabloid treasures that something was wrong. lots to be said about body language! now, they kind of annoy me. but, i do feel sorry for the kids, it's gonna be tough on them.

i've been watching tidbits of the bachelorette and daisy of love (she's such a ditz and she annoys me, but i still mindlessly watch the stupidity! ha!)... no favorite couple from either of those shows.

i like michelle and jim bob duggar, too. everything seems to run so smoothly in their household and they never seem to get mad! frankly, they amaze me!

ed, have a great vacation!! be safe and stay well! we look forward to hearing about your trip when you come back!

can't wait for the guest blogs, too! :)

  28. Rosette:

WEll with Jim BOB he has older girls help out ..if he had all boys look out..when he joined the reality show his kids are a bit older and the kids are not out at the public shcools picking up all sorts of bad habit...I tell you the day I sent my youngest son to school..his personality changed ..he talked back more and more agressive..etc etc...so JIM BOB's kids are not influenced by outside world ..if he send his kids to school look!

  29. Rosette:

You can't compare Jon and Kate to the Duggars...KATE HAD IT TOUGH all at once 6 omg....her girls at still too young to help...and her kids goes to school which they can be more influence by other kids so it is very tough. KATE'S HER HUSBAND IS NOT MATURE.

  30. Rosette:

MAN MATURES AROUND AGE 40 then they start to listen to wife..YUP.

  31. Rosette:

well anyway I am not going to get suckered have 18 kids then be in reality show...Duggar got lucky TLC help them pay for the house! NOW she says she is thinking maybe stop having kids WHY she keep saying GOD GAVE HER THIS AND THAT SO WHY STOP SCREWING NOW! COMMON SENSE FINALLY SINKING IN OR WHAT!

  32. Rosette:

OH JUST THINK if you have 18 kids you can be on parental leave for the next 21 years...with Duggar they work at home get paid showing us how they have five washing machine to do laundry and they don't have to get up get the kids ready to do go to school they can sleep in so less screaming at the kids and the husband is home all the time so he helps. If her husband is in the army away how could she manage all 18 kids on her own anbd how can he build his house if he is away...!

  33. Rosette:

so ticket out of poverty join reality show..DANG I ONLY HAVE TWO KIDS no reality for me here!

  34. Rosette:

    I watch this guy here

Welfare Octo-Mom To Replace Jon And Kate Plus 8

    http://www.dotpenn.com/index.php/Welfare/Welfare-Octo-Mom-To-Replace-Jon-And-Kate-Plus-8.html

  35. Rosette:

YES DO YOU HEAR TEACHER CALLING DUGGAR HEY YOUR KID IS NOT DOING HIS HOMEWORK and your boy is fighting that is why DUGGAR wont send her kids to school easy sit home pretend to open a book whiel the baby is havign a fit voila they have a show....THE DUGGAR WILL EDIT if the kids are acting up!

    * NeedaHobby:
my niece and nephews turned me onto The Amazing Race.

My co-workers have a weekly pot for that during the season. I could never get into it for some reason.

    * theDman:
Hate those shows. Don't watch at all.

    Unless they got babes.

Ahahaha! That's why they usually cast one hottie up in there yeah Big D?

    * J.P.:
only reality show i watch is Amazing Race.....there's always at least one cute girl in it and always one couple that's constantly bickering at one another.

Formula for successful reality show = one female hottie, one hunky dude, one crazy, one smarty, and one young one, one old one, all with loud mouths and Type A personalities. 8)

    * Rosette:

Rosey, you and your hubby need your own reality show. I'd watch that! ;)

    * snow:
my favorite couple would have been jon and kate. but, you could tell long before they became tabloid treasures that something was wrong. lots to be said about body language! now, they kind of annoy me. but, i do feel sorry for the kids, it's gonna be tough on them.

    * Rosette:
DANG I ONLY HAVE TWO KIDS no reality for me here!

Puhleeeeaaaaassse! Are there any rich tv producers out there? Let's make this Rosey & Hubby Plus 2 reality show a reality!!! 8)

  37. mcat:

ha! ed your list is funny.

i love reality tv! can't get enough of these shows... don't know why either!

don't know if i really like any "couples" on tv but who doesn't love to hate some of them like heidi & spencer?!

still i probably watched most of the ones you listed... not sure if i like any of those couples though... most of them don't last anyway!

  38. NeedaHobby:

@tita - I've only caught this week's episode, so far. They had to turn offal (pig ears, beef tongue, heart, tripe) into street food! I heard that Roy Y hasn't been on yet. I hope we didn't miss it, anyways.

  39. Rosette:

KATE AND PETER..I saw two show and I crack up she was competing
