Buy me drinky drinky?
I could've sworn we covered this topic already in a previous Fave Five list, but looking back at the archives, I don't see it, so hurr we goooo!
Personally, I'm-a-gonna have to make separate lists 'cause my favorite drinks differ based on when and where I yam. OK, let's do this!
At the crib:
- Water - We filter ours using one of dem Brita water pitchers from Costco. Now that's what I call high quality H2O.
- Apple Juice - Those 1 gallon, two-packs, again purchased from Costco. YUM!
- Vitamin Water - We used to tank these often, but it got expensive real quick. Speaking of which, aren't their new commercials just hilarious! They even have a fake microsite! Classic!
- Calpico - Pops won a whole case in a golf tourney so wifey and I took a bunch home with us. The Aloe flavored one is not as bad as it sounds and is actually pretty good, FYI.
- Primo - She go with poke right after work!
In the Club:
- (Almost) Anything on draught - Can't go wrong with the stuffs straight from the tap
- Heiney - I used to like it better when I was the only one in the club green bottling. Now, errone is doing it which kinda sucks.
Gotta switch it up now. Good thing I hardly go clubbing anymore. Ha! - Orange Juice - when I don't feel like boozing it up, I go O.J. Figgah it's cheap and somewhat healthy (good way to get my Vitamin C).
- Jack and Coke - anything with Coke is a go.
- Bud Light - tastes like water, but when there's nothing else... Can't forget to send a shout out to Corona for nostalgia's sake. Makes me remember back to a time when drinking it with the lime wedge at the old Oceans on Thursday nights was cool. LOL!
Dining Out:
- Water (with a straw)
- sometimes the taps/pitchers/cups at the joints I go to are questionable. - Coke (with a straw)
- I usually get this when I go to the places above. Figgah, they can't contaminate the Coke dispenser too can they? Hehe! Coke goes well with burger and fry kine places no? - Asahi - any time I go to a Japanese restaurant, this is a guaranz ballbaranz! Just goes with the food. Oh, and green tea too.
- Authentic-tasting Nippon Green Tea - see above
- When in Rome... - I like to change the brand of beer I drink, depending on where I am. Tsingtao at Chinese restaurants, Corona at Mexican restaurants, Singha at Thai restaurants, Moretti at Italian restaurants, etc.
Sum'more:
- Pocari Sweat - drink of choice when walking/running around the muthaland.
- Anything Hawaiian Sun - pretty much everything in their lineup is onos.
- Ito En Natural Fruit Teas - Mmmm, but kinda expensive at Stan Sheriff!
So what say you? Post your list(s) below a-ight? Happy VHO7V Friday folks! Be safe and have a nice, fun weekend k? Shoots!
P.S. Any kiddies out dea reading... remember... no drink until you stay of age k? ![]()
P.P.S. Any social drinkers out dea reading... remember... drink responsibly... no drink and drive k?

Yeah Ed, that Vitamin Water commercial is funny. Isn't that Heiney one funny, too? Where the gal shows off her walk-in closet and the guy shows off his walk-in beer refrig?

@Maki, tried da new Primo and liked it...light and drinkable. I can't remember the taste of the old Primo but was cheap. Maybe they should bring back Lucky Lager along with the old commercials with Lucky Luck.

April 24th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
me loves the calpico too. only i likey the calpis version - the one that comes in a big paper wrapped bottle in syrup form that you add water to. that way i can control the shweet-ness. mo' syrup = mo' betta! only thing i never could understand was the weird white stringy stuff that gets left in your mouth after drinking 'um. solly, sharing gross mouth stuff again!
my other fave is the yogu-ru-to drinks that come in teeny little plastic bottles shaped like milk canisters. they come shrink wrapped in a 6pack and you can find them at marukai. it has an orange-y flavor to it. everytime i drink it, it reminds me of when i stayed with my grandparents in hiroshima when i was a kid. ji-chan would order that special from the milkman jus' for us!

t'anks fo' clue on figgah out kuya's puzzlement.. an' how you know my phone broke???
happy draft day everyone..
hema, do you have a dog in the hunt?
kuya, how did you pick up the iggs? i was born there, so i'm stuck with all the pilly teams for good an' ill..
so, do you know what Philadelphia means in Greek?
allegedly = City of Brotherly Love
reality = City of Brothas Who Love to Lose in Da Playoffs..
how did you pick up the Warriors? from the Run TMC days.. have rooted for them on and off over the years.. actually met Jeff Mullen in Waikiki when i was in the restaurant biz (from Rick Barry days).. also met Pat Summerall and Pete Rozell.. trying to hide out and avoid attention.. who else, oh yeah, met all of the football guys at da Pro Bowl early 80's Cris Collinsworth, Steve Bartkowski.. actually really nice guys.. Collinsworth, "i'm just a rookie, you won't know me"... right.. the year 9ers beat bengals in SB, remember?
So, Kuya, speaking of Cal Bears, you know how Leigh Steinberg got in to sports agency biz... when he was in law school at Cal, his best friend was Steve Bartkowski's roommate.. and the rest is history class..
anyways, good luck today with the draft.. draft picks are a lot like children... they give you great hope for the future.. go iggles, get boldin!!
April 25th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
@uji - Philadelphia since jaworski days. Frank LeMaster was my fave player. I started liking them back in elem. Green was my fave color, and my other friend was already a GB fan. Speaking of GB, ikaika alama-francis' dad was our pe teacher at PCHS, he played for the Pack.
Philadelphia - Fileo = love
They did alright in day one of the draft. I was hoping they'd take Donald Brown, the UCONN RB who ended up with the Colts.
Gotta be proud of Big I product Max Unger who will be a Seahawk. When he played in BIIF, he was a beast.
G-State and Cal - because I love the Bay Area. Run tmc days were good, I liked Sleepy Floyd, lil before those guys. Cal always has local boys, and Jahvid Best and Tyson Alualu will terrorize USC (did I type that out loud?) NAH! Aaron Corp, the Trojans new QB tore it up in High School (mater dei or mission viejo? Can't remember).
Glad to have a Philly compatriot up in hurr!
April 25th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
@uji - thanks for all the drops of knowledge, good info uncz!
Btw, glad Philly didn't trade for Boldin, he's gonna be too pricey for our blood. And I love younger talent.
I love the way Pats, Giants, and Colts draft. Their picks always become solid NFL players, that's the key to success. Love, love, love the draft! I watched just about every minute today. Such a geek I am!
April 26th, 2009 at 5:34 am
kuya.. so many "connections", so little time..
first, iggs.. did you see Invincible yet? if not, rent it, it's pretty well done.. your guy Frank L figures prominently and the Wahlberg kid is good.. around '76 when Vermeil arrives from UCLA.. Jaworski shows up maybe a year later..
Jaws one of many cross-country swaps from Rams to Iggs (Mahalo Maks, enjoyed watching DV finally win the big one with your Rams)...
Van Brocklin, Gabriel, Jaworski, and even Harris and Namath at the end..
kuya, things have actually been pretty good since you signed on: Jaws, Randall, and then Donovan.. pretty good times as long as you don't mind the "blowing up thing" right at the end.. like the "fog bowl"..
you're prolly right about young talent.. you must have been happy to see your Cal guy last year which worked out well.. they must be trying to draft his clone with maclin..
sorry to see Dawkins go, though.. nice to see us hurt Big D one more time at the end.. can you imagine the bedlam at the game? pretty fun run this year..
April 26th, 2009 at 8:21 am
@uji - I'll check out that movie. The iggles have been pretty steady thanks to their personnel moves, even the unpopular ones like Dawkins to Broncos. But the igs have had good timing in moving our vets.
DeSean was a surprise, I was a little worried about him. I feel worried about Maclin, so he'll probably turn out good too.
They drafted Ilaoa a couple years ago, and I hoped he could've stuck around.
Been watching the draft since 4am, and all the iggs have done is trade down into the 5th round, 5 picks in there.
April 26th, 2009 at 11:18 am
@kuya..
you're right, the iggs seem to err on the side of trading guys "too soon" rather than "too late"..
i think that you'll enjoy Invincible... it's "the Vince Papale story" but times nicely in '76 with the arrival of Vermeil and the rebirth of the franchise.. after 15 painful years after winning it all in '60 with a great team, and then being forced to trade their QB of the future to the Redskins for Snead after Jurgensen got into some kind of dustup with a mob guy over a woman and "had to leave town"..
there was a brief period of sunshine when Gabriel came in and actually put up some very solid #'s for the Iggs.. other than that, the only fun was watching LB Tim Rossovich chew glass and Tom Dempsey clubbing field goals..
so as i said, you came aboard at a good time and it's been a pretty solid franchise since then..
so here's my last story of the day, then JJ has t-ball this afternoon.. you'll have to hold down draft central..
so maybe '96 am in my office at ucla and a hapa filipino guy walks in my office wearing an Eagles cap.. i'm all over it, "what are you doing wearing a Philadelphia Eagles cap?"...well, i'm from Hawaii, but i was born in Philly..
"what? wait a minute, that's my story, who the heck are you?" well, my name's Marc Heenan.. "Marc Heenan!!! i know your Mom (Neri) and worked for your Dad (Dave)!! you guys used to live two blocks from us in the old days.. we knew you when you were just a little kid".. yup, that's us.. we all had some good laughs about that one.. just another HI "zero degrees of separation" story.. Marc was a great kid and having a pretty terrific career in LA in real estate.. at least he was.. on second thought, i better check in with him..
anyways, we'll have lots of good stories after this.. do you know how rare a Philly Phan in HI is? yeah, of course you do...
wow wondah who Tita roots for.. seems like she'd be a Raider fan..
