Survey Thursday - BJ Penn or Georges St. Pierre?
By World Wide Ed
* Who are you picking to win at UFC 94: BJ Penn or Georges St. Pierre?
These two bruthas are arguably the best pound for pound MMA fighters in history and they will be facing off this Saturday in Las Vegas for the UFC Welterweight Championship (again). Penn is a local boy from Hilo and has a HUGE following both in Hawaii as well as in the MMA community. St. Pierre is an athletic stud from Canada and is loved by the more mainstream/every day fan. Women especially swoon over him for his physique. Which side are you on for this one man?
Me? I gotta go with our local boy Penn. Not only is he from our aina, but he is unbelievably talented in the art of combat, and makes me crack up in every interview he does. I just love it that people outside of Hawaii are also huge fans of his. Represent baby!

seems like most things I've been hearing or reading says GSP. But I think BJ can do it. I like what one of BJ's trainers said on the UFC special last night on Spike...GSP is an athlete, but BJ is a better fighter. If his conditioning is better than the first fight I see BJ taking it.

Yeah Pacs... I don't think I've ever seen BJ hurt or even cut. His face is made out of metal. Haha! I don't see it any other way other than a decisive finish by BJ or another close decision.

Confidence is good. Arrogance is not. I have never watched on tv or seen a live UFC event. Boxing, amateur wrestling or any sanctioned martial art is a bona fide "sport". A competitor pinned on the floor in a head lock or leg scissors being punched with an open fist (gloves or not) is nothing more than street fighting. We have all heard this debate since the advent of MMA. I am offended being Hawaii born and raised to be "represented" by B.J. Penn.
With the support of so many local people he has the charisma of an insecure school bully. Some humility could only benefit you in your retired life. Aloha..

Sitting here at the airport headin' home and still pretty bummed about Saturday's result. I really wanted our local boy to make history and show the rest of the world what the 808 is all about. Still proud of BJ's fighting spirit and hope this loss lights a fire under him like never before. See y'all tomorrow!

Woo hoo! Love the spirit mcat!
Oh! Hahaha! Sorry, saw the name and thought that was you. Need to think of a new name for the "new" Scott.
LOL! Did you know he's not American either? Hehe, nah!
Mahalos bB! I tried... *sigh*
LOL! I guess I owe you a plate lunch eh C Dubbs!? Unless we were counting the spread. *grin*
Grantsradamus? *grin*
Barn burner eh uji!? Boring game until the last quarter...
Yup yup. I still have mad "respeck" for bruddah BJ.
Ouch. Harsh word swshawaii, but you sure are entitled to your opinion. I think fighters have to exude confidence in order to do what they do in the ring. Most fighters think it's a 90% mental game as opposed to physical, which I find pretty close. BJ does a lot for the state of Hawaii, and its young people so I am not offended at all about being "represented" by him. Actually proud.
That's the word on the street any way. Interested to see how this all pans out. You know Jackson's team is not going to admit anything...
