Seven Things Meme

January 26th, 2009
By

Bruddah Ryan recently tagged me in his "Seven Things Meme" blog, which basically obligated me to return the favor.

What the heck is a meme you “axe”? Yeah, that’s exactly what I "axed" myself. So I looked da buggah up. Basically, it is a term used to describe a joke, link, digital file, video clip, etc. that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet.

The thinking behind posting it up in hurr (on WWE), is that it would also be a good way for us to get to know each other a lil' better. You can read my "Seven Things" meme, and then post your own seven in the comment area below. Hopefully, it'll help our WWE `ohana get to know each other just a little bit more. So let's get this party started... Right!?

1) I dig on A Capella music.

There's just something about perfect harmony that makes the hair on my neck/back stand up.

2) I HANDWRITE IN ALL CAPS

Not quite sure when this began, but it's just something I do. Any handwriting analysts out there? ;)

3) My favorite brand name is eS. Duh!

It's the hardest brand to find, but when I do, I go at it.

4) I am OBSESSED with Virus Buster from Brain Age 2.

The wife and I literally play this every day. We skip/breeze through the real brain exercises just to get to it. This YouTube video shows a guy happy to have a high score of 2059. Puhlease. Talk to me when you get in the 6,000s. *grin*

5) Rice and me get along (very well!).

For the amount of rice I down at errry meal, I'm surprised I'm not a sumo tori or competing in the Biggest Loser competition! Rice Rice Baby!

6) I could be quiet and soft spoken, or loud and obnoxious.

Just depends on the situation I guess. Who I'm with, where I'm at, how much I've had to drink... :P The last one was a joke (sorta), but am I alone on this one y'all?

7) I get thrilled (and feel proud) when people from Hawaii "make it" big.

Shane Victorino, BJ Penn, Barack Obama, Tadd Fujikawa... You name it, Hawaii's got um baby!

Well, there ya have it. Info you probably could've lived without. But now it's your turn. Post 7 odd/interesting/random/fun tidbits about yourself won'tcha?

You like know 7 things about me? Hmmm, I don't know 7 things about me.

    1. I old enough to be your dad.

    2. I live in Hilo thus the name Ynaku (Wainaku)

    3. I grew up in humble beginnings in a plantation camp and still treasure those values and extend myself to the neighbors. (gotta help them out since they getting older too)

    4. I love watching TV when I can. All the CSI/NCIS series., Numb3rs, Chuck and those types of shows.

    5. I'm not into MMA, but I do know some fighters personally. In fact just yesterday I saw 3 guys from the BJ Penn team running up some steep hills for training. Me, I'm a lover not a fighter.

    6. I love my grand-daughter. She's 2 years old and giving mom and dad hard time but not with Papa.

    7. Finally, as you can tell I like to blog on HA.

OK that's just a smidgen of who I am. I like to have fun as you can tell.

  2. kuya.d:

    okay, here goes -

    1) in college, I hung out with Minna before I started hanging out with Ed.

    2) I love guacamole, I grew up not liking avocado, nowadays I wouldn't let you even dip your chip in it.

    3) I like sad songs . . . The heart-broken kine. You know that whoever wrote it really felt it and penned it well. Like tita leerz would say, it's just the romantic in me.

    4) I never imagined I'd have lived in Hilo this long (9 years now) . . . But what can I say, no traffic, not crowded, and still get people with true aloha here.

    5) I love working with the students in Kea'au. One word describes them - resilient. Kea'au always gets the bum rap in the press - fights, weapons on campus, poor scores. People just don't know about these kids, some live with grandparents, some don't have electricity, and some live in tents up near volcano where the weather dips into the 40s. But you know what, these kids still
come to school (sorry about the rant right there).

    6) I want to thank tita leerz for my new "blog handle".

    7) I had the honor of singing a Capella with Ed back in the day. He taught me how to listen for parts to sing harmony - thanks bruddah Ed. And thanks to him, I ended up singing at weddings, parties, luaus, and all kine stuff. And Ed got me started playing uke too!

  3. NeedaHobby:

Ho Ed, first age - now 7 things? Ha, ha :) I was trying to keep myself somewhat anonymous on this blog :)

    1) Speaking of age, my hubby said that I misrepresented myself and should've listed myself as "C", and not "D", on your How Old You Stay? blog. Well ... I guess I like to THINK of myself as still young. ;) Shucks, I guess I'll change my previous post to: between "C" and "D".

    2) I guess I'm not your typical girley-girl, in the sense that I like guy stuff too, e.g., watching sports (especially NFL and UH football and Wahine volleyball) and drinking some beer.

    3) But, I do love chick stuff too like shopping, crafts (especially stamping / scrapbooking) and baking / cooking. And, I do like to read romantic novels and watch chick-flicks, every now and then.

    4) As you might've guessed from your last blog, I love music. I own a ton of CD's! I do use iTunes and an iPod, but I guess I'm old-school in that I rather collect the hard copy CD's and rip them.

    5) I consider myself a foodie. I love trying different restaurants. I love watching the Food Network and Top Chef. I enjoy going to farmers markets or on food tours when travelling.

    6) I love sushi and pasta. But, not eaten together, of course!

    7) As my screen name suggests, I'm in search of a new hobby. Any suggestions? But, I have discovered these blogs recently and it's been a ton of fun (except, that is, when you ask us to disclose our age)! j/k

  4. MakiSushi:

1 - I like to buy books, too lazy to read'em

  5. tita leerz:

    1. Police choppers that "hover" around you for an hour makes me nervous. I'm in Mililani right now. Anyone know what's going on? Makes the hood seem more safe!

    2. I love to support neighborhood business. And I don't mean that I buy pakalolo from my neighbor. LOL!

    3. I love watching Top Chef...you know...to see if the Filipino can get past patis. BTW, Leah should start concentrating harder on the challenge!

    4. Hates it when Ed only asks for 5 things for Desert Island surveys.

    5. Miss sugar cane fields. Cuz, you know, the smell of fart in the air all night long when they fertilize a new field is just so exhilarating! Watch out for da yellow man!

    6. Thinks there should be a bridge between Ewa Beach and downtown. It can be done! Hello?! You ever hear of the Big Dig?!

    7. Loves zoning out............... huh?!

  6. tita leerz:

@ kuya d--I got my new handle cuz of you and Ed too! :)
it's 945 and that helicopter finally went away. still wondering what happened.

  7. rayboyjr:

    1. I can cook. Cause sometimes I rather eat my own creations.
    2. Engineer by day. Goof oof and goof ball the rest of the time.
    3. Love pets. Any kine but dogs are the bestest!
    4. Love music - any kine is good, singing too - not great but not that bad.
    5. Absolutely cannot read a book more than 1/4" thick. Rather wait for the movie and watch.
    6. Sports addict. Watching mostly. Sometimes playing. And of course gambling on em too!
    7. A woman's eyes are what I notice first and is the most impressionable feature on a woman. At least to me. A nice smile and a bat of the eye will get me all the time!

  8. Coconut Willy:

    Maki,
7 - I have had one big crush on Valerie Bertinelli eva since “one day at a time”, even watched her on “touched by an angel”

What, you trying to steal my GF? Me and Val go way back. I was once one block away from her in LA. And I'm going to be Eddie in my next life. Bwaahahaha!

  9. kako mochi:

    here's mine . . . i could add a few more, but i'll keep it to 7!

    - has a very bad potty mouth

    - LOVES musicals (i even wish my life were a musical!)

    - wants desperately to get off this island (not talking about a vacay)

    - has all your "typical" taurus traits

    - is a VW & disney fanatic . . . i just love going to d.land &/or d.world & acting like a kid again - i don't have a room full of mickey & pooh dolls! o yeah, and i plan on driving only VDubs for the rest of my life!!

  10. MakiSushi:

Hey Coconut Willy, you get good taste bruddah. Wow, you was dat close to her? Lucky! I can share your fantasy?

Okay, my number two is Patricia Heaton, from "everybody loves raymond." I hate raymond.

  11. kuya.d:

@tita leerz - I dunno sis, when the chopper stay hovering usually means a manhunt or something. Green harvest days is over ya know.

@kako - musicals like ally mcbeal / eli stone style? I dig when those musical moments pop up. And vdubbs? Old skool or newer? I had a 97 vw golf and the ride was so fast and smooth that when I used to drive home from kapolei, I always made a point to shadow faster cars to avoid 5-0.

  12. kuya.d:

@needahobby - I have to admit, I'm a closet scrapbooker / card maker (not anymore). It started as gifts for my eighth grade students' "graduation". Kinda cool to watch the "tuff boys" tear up when they get the stuff.

@rayboyjr. - gotta agree, the eyes are key . . . that and a sweet voice.

  16. skycastles:

Wow, we getting all personal up in here huh? :)

    1. I love watching movies or reading books. If it's not one, it's the other. And when I start, I can't just stop in the middle even if it really sucks. (Started a new movie blog since I've been making good use of Netflix recently: Movie Addicts Club)

    2. Sometimes I think was born in the wrong decade 'cause I love all that 50s and 60s stuff (music, old Hollywood glamour, cars, etc.).

    3. I hate onions but I'll eat onion rings (especially the Bloomin' Onion from Outback. Yum!)

    4. One of my guilty pleasures is watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

    5. Even though we only live on an island (or maybe because of that), I hate driving.

    6. I think people who can sing, play an instrument or paint/draw are amazing.

    7. Dogs vs. Cats? The answer is always Dogs :)

    2. I like going to Japan.

    3. I like japanese food.

    4. I like to eat.

    6. I love my kids.

    Kung Hee Fat Choy! Ed!

  18. Scott:

    1. I'm gonna give M and Masako some avacados when the next batch is ready, probably next week.

    2. I sat across the table from a blind lady at a 3 hour meeting this morning and was creeped out all 3 hours because she was staring in my direction with her eyes wide open. Her guide dog sat at my feet and, at one point, the dog was dreaming and his tail kept wacking me on the foot. It was sweet and reminded me of my lovely dogs and how bad I feel for yelling at them last night after they scratched the hard wood floors in my house.

    3. I ate steak, salad, peppers, red wine for dinner last night. This morning was a rough one.

    4. I told my wife it didn't smell and I actually believed myself.

    5. I can find no fault in my body functions.

    6. I'm going to hike Makapu'u with my dogs after work today!

    7. I saw a ladies boob pop out of her shirt at my 3 hour meeting today and I laughed histerically to myself, though I wasn't aroused.

  19. NeedaHobby:

@tita leerz - I agree w/ you ... Leah should concentrate more on the competition. She should be very thankful that her team won!

@tita & @uncle jimmy - I think I agree w/ Jamie. It's better not too win the quickfire, so that you don't have to be a team leader for Restaurant Wars.

Also, wasn't Fabio's comment hilarious?! Something like, "we could serve monkey's a** in a clamshell and still win!"

  20. kako mochi:

kuya.d - both my parents & my aunty worked at the old ala moana VW since before i was born, so i've grown up around VDubs...so i have an appreciation for the older models :) i drive a 2000 golf (my very first car) . . . bought it brand new and still has less than 40,000 mi!! LOL . . . work in town and live in town!

  21. BananaFysh:

hmmm, interesting topic today, Ed. :)

    1. I hate the taste of eggs. I don't like to eat them. I'll eat stuff made with eggs, like meat jun, but I'll puke if I eat a hard boiled egg.

    2. I'm a huge geek. I have a good memory for the stupidest things. Like comics, music and movies. :D Big fantasy football geek too. ;)

    3. I have a couple thousand cds, and have ripped a majority of them to mp3 format, yet I don't own a portable music player. I know, yeah?

    4. I'm generally a messy person, except when it comes to my cds and dvds, which are meticulously organized. ;)

    5. I can pick up a quarter with a forklift. For reals! You no believe? I bet you lunch I can. ;)

    6. I love to play Rock Band. I guess because I love music so much, I wish I could make it. I'm too lazy to learn how to play an instrument though.

    7. Based on what I read about Scott, I don't know if I should have lunch with him. Nah, nah, I keed, I keed! Still on for Wednesday, right Scott? ;)

I always carry a knife with me. Well, except on the airplane now. :x I used to in the pre-9/11 days though. I just like having a pocket knife on me - it's come in very handy on many occasions. I not psycho! Well, not that psycho. ;)

  22. NeedaHobby:

@skycastles - bloomin' onion, yum! Have you had the onion loaf from Tony Roma's? That's good too. Checked out your movie blog...posted a comment for "Shall We Dance".

@kuya d - love Stampin' Up! products, but don't get to use them as much as I'd like to. Takes a lot of time and $.

  23. M:

BananaFysh, I carry a 4" buck knife on my belt everyday at work. Like you said it comes in handy.

  24. NeedaHobby:

@WWE - stand-up paddling, eh? Seeing how I do with my balance on Wii Fit, I don't think I'd be any good. Ha! I do like the water and swimming though.

  25. kuya.d:

    @Scott - your #7 is classic.

@bananafysh - I think we should make a wwe fantasy football league next season. Me and the teachers at school throw a huge party for our live draft. Unfortunately, I came in 6th this season, m. colston and b. edwards killed me.

@kako - I miss my golf. But here on the big I, trucks are more practical. I bought my golf from the ala mo dealer. Don't you dig their tv commercials?

@needahobby - that's where I got hooked, a teacher at school saw the stuff I made for my students and invited me to a demo. I like SU paper, but yeah too expensive. I have a blog with stuff I made since my friends like check out what's new - oneohana.blogspot.com

  26. kuya.d:

Sorry bruddah ed, I stay carrying on and on. But hey, good topic . . . It's kinda neat to see what we have in common, and what makes us unique.

And Ed, you don't even know how much fun stuff I got to do because you got me into singing and stuff. Seriously, you got me started.

  27. tita leerz:

Oh I love it in here! Everyone's so hilarious!
Let go over to Ed's office cuz he don't got 5-0 helos hovering over him (BTW, word on the street was that they were looking for some armed guy. 5-0s zooming around the neighborhood but no sirens...geez, at least the helo won't give it away!)...anyways, we'll scrap book and watch Fabio serve Monkey A** in a clamshell on the his new show called Top Scallop! Would have been nice to see Hawaii Boy make it farther but I gotta admit, daikon and pesto would not have agreed with my strong-as-bagoong-stomach.
Unc! You can borrow when evaz cuz you now, no one follows Eds rulez. :p

  28. BananaFysh:

@M - My grampa used to carry that buck knife in the sheath on his belt too. ;)

Nah nah, just kidding. I guess mine is a little more "low key." I have my knife clipped in my back pocket. One hand opener - a Benchmade. ;)

@kuya.d - WWE Fantasy league? Sounds good! :D I was pounding guys in the regular season, then got bounced in the first round of the playoffs. Warner, Fitz, and AP all decided to choke that week. Thanks a lot, fellas. :x

  29. skycastles:

@NeedsaHobby - Oooh yeah, I haven't had one of those for the longest. Used to live in central Oahu so I'd go there every once in a while with friends. Now that I live in town and we all mostly work in town, we just hang out on this side after work. Gotta pencil in some Tony Roma's really soon!

Also, thanks for the comment on my new blog :) haven't seen the Japanese version yet. Think it's in my queue somewhere. I did see the recent Richard Gere film of the same name though. Dancing was no where near as good as Astaire and Rodgers.

@Uncle Jimmy - Thanks for stopping by my blog too. That rising out of the coffin all stiff trick . . . creepy huh?

  30. NeedaHobby:

@kuya d - WWE fantasy football league? I would play. How would we do the draft? We should do it through the blog. That would make for a lot of posts!!! ;)

  31. NeedaHobby:

@kuya d - forgot to mention ... checked out your blog. Thanks for sharing. Yup, I like the SU paper too. My hubby doesn't quite understand why I HAVE to get THAT paper. But, I think the quality is better. Thicker and a nice sheen.

  32. World Wide Ed:

    * skycastles:
Wow, we getting all personal up in here huh?
