When You Know, You Know

Yesterday, we went to finalize our tuxedo style and colors. To my own surprise, I was uncharacteristically finicky about the colors and the overall presentation of the entire get-up. Men don't usually care about this kinda stuff, but for some reason, I did.

The one for me was an easy one. White/Cream was the only color option (of course!), but the rest of the ensemble (style, patterns, etc.) was duck soup. As soon as I saw the one I wanted, I knew. The ones for the fellas and the papas posed a greater challenge. We were initially gonna have the boys in a pink-ish style to match the ladies, but I wasn't quite feeling the vest. After hours of deliberation (minutes actually), we decided to go grey/silver on um. The dark pink/mauve accent will come in the way of the handkerchief or a flower. Hours (minutes) more, and we decided on the papas' color and style. Whew!

Our point person Elsie teased about my long decision making process, but said, "But when he knows, he knows."

I thought to myself, that's exactly how I felt about the lady when we first started dating.

Talk to me!
* What kine tuxedo style did you choose/will you choose?
* Are tails still in? Ha!
* Should I change my color to baby blue ala Dumb and Dumber?
* Want me to "man up" and stop getting mushy on you? Haha!

Happy Fun day Monday yo!

Huuuu Ed, really nice comment about your lady. Your soft side showing which is good. The older I get, the more sentimental and teary eyed. Now I mush. See, if you can live stream your wedding, I'll probably cry for you during the ceremony.

  2. frankie:

Whatever you do, don't choose pink! Everything else will fall in line after that. :-)

  3. dsosa:

stick to the timeless / classic colors . . . you don't want to look back at your wedding pics and think, "what the heck was i thinking?"

    - for me, i couldn't tell you what colors i'd wear . . . i hope to be as compromising as you . . . aloha wear, suits, tuxes . . . i dunno.

    - no tails

    - baby blue only as an accent . . . but no d and d - er - er

    - and ed, just keep being you (balanced) . . . you've always been a cool brother.

btw - did you catch mana'o co. on hot hawaiian nights? still rockin'

  4. zzzzzz:

    Definitely tails.

Go with baby blue, and then you guys can lip-sync the Stylistics at the reception.

    Here ya go.

  6. Rodney:

Shoot. One typo and the link doesn't work!

Try this: Here's the way to go!

  7. Rodney:

I've already told my boyf that if we ever get married, he can't have a white tux and tails...for some reason, I really don't like those. And vests...at least it narrows things down for him :)

  9. Chicken Grease:

The only time I seem to require a tux nowadays are occassions where I need to visit the quartermain. Obligatorily cut loose to allow the certain swift, sudden movements I'll no doubt be making in the course of an evening or so. Usually has some other features as needed. Always black, suit and trousers. Tie as well.

    Hey, have fun, Ed!

I noticed that too hemmaz! I've rarely seen my pops cry growing up, but he seems to get misty-eyed about the smallest things these days. I guess that's something for me to look forward to. *sigh* :P

Yeah, same here lj. White tux with tails is out like trout. I re-read what I wrote and it sounded like I meant white tux, but I just meant in innards. Hehe!

Much love C to tha G! I'll cut loose for ya! :P

  11. snow:

My husband had a three-button black tuxedo (no tail - I only see tails being worn by high school band conductors!), with ivory vest, but the rest of the boys, including my FIL, had two button black tuxedos with black vests. I didn't make them wear pink ties or anything (like you, I wasn't feeling it!)... just went with pink rose boutonneires for that "splash of color!" Besides, I think they were a little concerned about my color scheme of hot pink and lime green! LOL... oh well!

"When you know, you know." That's really sweet (awww... !), but it's so true, isn't it? My husband and I knew we were going to get married within a couple of weeks of dating, but didn't tell too many people 'cause we knew they would have thought we were nuts! We've seen each other nearly every day since we first met!

  13. Reido:

    Hey Ed.

My wedding was too long ago. I would have to dig up the pictures for any details. I think I wore a black tux with a blue vest...

I'm not sure if tails are still in.

I don't think baby blue is the way to go.

  14. leerah:

Tails are in if you're a monkey. nah...not good for short people.

I think you should go blonde. :p

It takes a very confident man to talk about mushy stuff...let a lone his wedding plans! You da man bruddah! You da man! :p *can you hear me laughing?*

Woah! I hope that was a joke snow! Haha, nah. One button black tux with ivory innards for me. And yeah, no tail! Hehe!

Haha, yes, and I don't like it leerz! Haha, nah, I'm used to it. Anyway, yes, it's kinda "mushy" to talk about wedding stuffs, but I figgah, it's only for a little while more. Then no moa! Haha! Besides, it seems to get the most interest next to my photo and fave five ones. Das why I hardly blog about MMA too. Nobody cares. Haha! Shoots!

  16. dsosa:

ed - i care about mma, only in relation to the local boiz . . . being here on the big i, it's a pretty big deal (go figure), my students all talk about it, and some train at penn's . . . but overall, the sport is "okay" - i think too many of the fights we see on tv are kinda junk. again, when bj, or grove are on . . . they bring the noise.

but no shame share what you like . . . it's your bloggage, and i going check it out regardless.

planning to go to gaius's memorial?

    aloha . . .

  17. leerah:

Ed, you know, you will talk about more mushy stuff when you have kids! It will not end until maybe they hit puberty. LOL

    dsosa! you moved!

Much love for the support dews. Regarding Gaius, I just spoke with Ann earlier tonight and found out that the memorial was moved from that Wednesday to Saturday. I would've gone on Wednesday, but on Saturday, we unfortunately, have our rehearsal lunch that day! :( At least we'll get to see Ann at our wedding. :\
